Smear

A smeared peak pattern origination at a certain point in the chromatogram does seldom occur. Suddenly the peaks will become wide as if the fragments were diffusing more than migrating, but there is no change in the electrophoresis conditions. Usually the quality quickly becomes worse, but there are rare occasions where the peak pattern returns to normalcy. The problem does not persist in the same capillary in subsequent runs nor does it occur in just one client's samples. There seems to be no pattern to the error. Reinjecting the sample always results in a successful read. Smears are automatically reinjected without the client's initiative.
